“A very exciting partnership:” AGG builds its genset business with DEIF
Quality, support, and competitive pricing are the three key reasons why Chinese manufacturer AGG is choosing DEIF devices to monitor and control its genset products. The partnership is helping AGG make its margins and do business more easily.
When Chinese genset manufacturer AGG was developing a new series of products in 2019, the company ended up selecting DEIF controllers for a very specific reason.
“The DEIF controllers have strong synchronising operation,” explains Jackie Xie, Sales Director for the Middle East and Africa at AGG. “When our solutions have more than one generator, the DEIF controllers make them simpler to operate.”
Several years later, AGG is still choosing DEIF devices. When asked why, Jackie Xie lists three key reasons.
“When we choose components to assemble our generators, it’s quality first, and we know that DEIF offers high quality,” he says. “Secondly, we choose DEIF because of the professional support. And the third reason is that some of the DEIF models are very competitive compared to other controller brands – we’re businessmen and need to make our margins.”
Active in 80+ markets
Headquartered in Fuzhou City on the north-east coast of Fujian province in China, AGG is a multinational company focused on the design, manufacture, and distribution of power generation systems and advanced energy solutions. It is active in 80+ markets all over the world with trademarks registered globally, including in the UK, and supported by a US-based warehouse to expand into the Central and South America market.
The company’s power generation solutions are marketed and sold via a network of more than 300 dealers. The gensets are used in a wide range of applications, from defence, telecom, and data centres to healthcare and events. AGG’s dealers have their own service teams and technicians that provide installation, testing, and commissioning services.

Reliable performance in harsh conditions
With products being used in many different climate conditions all over the world, and in demanding applications like oil and gas extraction, quality is extremely important – and the DEIF devices are able to keep up. AGG’s VPS series (short for Variable Power System), for example, is used in the Middle East where the controllers keep working with no issues, even in very high temperatures and dust levels.
“Our VPS solution has been exported to markets like Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates where conditions are challenging,” says Jackie Xie. “But so far, all equipment is running smoothly with no major complaints reported from our end users or partners. I think that’s really good.”
User friendliness and high performance
The VPS series is a good example of how AGG uses DEIF products to combine advanced performance with high user-friendliness.
“On the VPS series, we install two generators in a 20-foot container,” explains Jackie Xie. “It’s very compact. And we synchronise these two units so they can support different loads, depending on your exact requirements. For this product, we chose the DEIF AGC-150 controller and the AGI 410 touch screen . At first, we had chosen a different controller, but after we completed the project, our research department chose DEIF because for synchronisation, the DEIF controller is simpler and easier to operate.”
The AGI touchscreen is built into the VPS container along with the two controllers, and all necessary control functions are integrated in the touchscreen. Not only does this make it easier to get the necessary power without worrying about manual synchronisation; it also makes it easier to operate the genset in accordance with emission requirements like Stage V or Tier 4.
“It is easy for the operator to see what’s happening, and what he can do to correct any problems,” says Jackie Xie. “I think that’s really important because non-professional guys can sometimes become confused if the controller is too complicated.”
Great customisation and support
While the DEIF devices deliver the performance and user-friendliness that AGG’s customers require, DEIF delivers the support and customisation options that AGG needs to stay competitive. Day-to-day commercial support is provided by DEIF’s Chinese dealer Dankong Fujiang while tech support is handled by DEIF Shanghai with support from DEIF’s global headquarters in Denmark.
“For both our technician team and pre-sales inquiries, the DEIF team will always respond very quickly,” says Jackie Xie. “Delivery time has also proven highly reliable, and they maintained an excellent delivery performance so far.”
With many different end-users and genset applications, the flexible customisation options that the company is getting from DEIF are quite important.
“Our engineer team said that the DEIF controllers are more flexible for customised operation,” says Jackie Xie. “This is very important for AGG because it means we can customise some of the programmes as per our exact project requirements.”
One of these customisation options is the ability to show the display of the AGC-150 and other devices in several languages. Jackie Xie considers this a major benefit to AGG’s end-users all over the world:
“English is a common language, of course, but for example in West Africa, people tend to use French, and in other countries they also speak other languages than English, so I think it’s very good that the DEIF controller offers the option to select different languages.”
With DEIF, customisation is not limited to programming and language selection. AGG is also using DEIF SGC 120 single-genset controllers with customised front foils that feature the AGG logo next to DEIF’s. This is a simple but effective way of building the AGG brand in the market.

Competitive price and sourcing efficiency
Genset manufacturers, like anyone else, need to drive down cost, improve efficiency, and maximise their margins. According to Jackie Xie, DEIF is helping AGG reach these commercial targets; in part because some of the DEIF products sourced by AGG are competitively priced, and in part because working with DEIF provides efficiency benefits as AGG can source several components from the same supplier.
“We need accessories like relays or displays in our control systems,” he says. “Because DEIF also supplies these, it increases the efficiency of our procurement and purchasing. And because we know the controllers are high-quality, we know we are getting the same quality in accessory products, too. In short, we can decrease our cost and increase our efficiency.”

Satisfaction and the future
In short, AGG are getting high quality, good support, and financial benefits from working with DEIF. The great partnership is helping the Chinese genset manufacturer survive and evolve in a competitive market, and Jackie Xie is optimistic about the future.
“We hope that we can use DEIF for more projects in future,” he concludes. “We think the DEIF controllers can support us in getting more projects because DEIF is helping us do business more easily, and because DEIF make our products easier to operate and avoid issues for our end-users which creates additional value for them and for our partners. It is a very exciting partnership.”
